About
Kids Discovery offers programming for infants, toddlers, twos, preschool, Voluntary Pre-K, elementary-aged before- and after-school, and summer camp options. The program provides individualized learning, social-emotional support, and imaginative programming and play for every child, and partners with parents to provide a holistic, collaborative start to the early years. Three separate playgrounds are available for specific age groups, and rooms and toys are rigorously and regularly sanitized, with meals and snacks that meet USDA guidelines.
• Ages: 0–12 years old
• Schedule: M–F, 6:30 am–6:00 pm
All staff are required to be trained in infant, child, and adult CPR and First Aid, and all teachers are trained to recognize each child’s developmental progress through age-appropriate milestones. Initial employment and continuing education requirements include health, safety, nutrition, trauma, and other pertinent topics, and all caregivers must complete 10 in-service hours of professional development every calendar year in topics relevant to their positions, with employees able to take part in unlimited training opportunities. Entrances are secured with restricted access, live-view closed circuit cameras are monitored by staff, and a separate “Boo-Boo Room” houses ill children while they wait for pickup.
Kids Discovery states that it puts its 20-plus years of experience to work every day. The program’s mission states that every child deserves caring adults, opportunities to learn, safe environments, and a sense of belonging, and that children should be embraced within a caring, safe environment where they can learn through play. The mission also states that a positive approach is the best approach, that praise creates good attitudes toward learning and builds self-esteem, and that learning should be a happy, rewarding experience for both child and teacher.
Kids Discovery holds DCF License Number: C01OK0161, is COR Advantage-certified to provide observation-based skills assessments, and is a Florida Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) provider. The program describes community involvement that includes Relay for Life, The Ronald McDonald House, and appreciation efforts for essential healthcare employees and military personnel, with families, staff, and children taking part. One Gulf Breeze parent reports having both a four-year-old and an 18-month-old enrolled, describes the teachers as caring about the children and parents, notes that the program is serious about cleanliness and health, and states that they would not send their children anywhere else but Kids Discovery.
