Camp Osprey was established in 2018 and is nurse founded, with background-checked staff and Red Cross lifeguards. The program has newly remodeled, air-conditioned cabins with covered porches, bunk beds, and picnic areas, with separate areas for boys and girls, and a large, air-conditioned dining hall with a spacious porch overlooking Lake Dot, which is used for swimming, fishing, and The Blob. The Lodge is used as a dance hall and entertainment center with a stage, sound system, lighting, and a disco ball. Camp Osprey was founded by Sandy and Gary Bembry, and Sandy Bembry is a registered nurse and mother of five sons. The camp describes itself as small by design with limited enrollment, with every camper known by name and every counselor described as like a big brother or sister, and it states that it is gated and secure with a zero-tolerance bullying policy and certified courses. Camp Osprey reports that it has been featured on local news as one of the premier summer camp destinations in Florida and notes that it is a top-rated camp.

Testimonials from campers and parents include statements such as “BEST WEEK EVER!” (Age 10), “I NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE” (Age 12), “CAN I LIVE HERE?” (Age 8), “MY FAVORITE PLACE ON EARTH” (Age 11), “I MADE FRIENDS FOR LIFE” (Age 9), and “WHEN CAN I GO BACK?!” (Age 13). One camper, Jake, Age 9 and a second-year camper, says he was scared at first but then climbed the ropes course and felt like he could do anything, calling Camp Osprey “the best place in the whole world.” Another camper, Mia, Age 10 and a third-year camper, says “The blob is INSANE!!! And the horses are so sweet,” and describes her counselor as “like having the coolest big sister ever.” A parent, Sarah M., reports that her daughter, age 11, came home more confident, more outgoing, and more independent and talks about Camp Osprey every day. Another parent, Dr. Michael R., who identifies as a nurse, says he was impressed by the safety protocols and that his son went from anxious to begging for two more weeks. Ethan, Age 12 and a fourth-year camper, says Camp Osprey taught him that he is braver than he thinks and describes going from being too scared to swim to jumping off The Blob, and says his camp friends are his “real friends.” Parents Jennifer and Tom L. describe the program as all-inclusive with no surprise fees and say their children are already planning cabin assignments for next year.
