About
Georgia 4-H Youth Development Programs are part of UGA Extension and are included in the area of 4-H youth development. The program is connected to a larger network that offers information and programs in agriculture, food, families, the environment, and 4-H youth development. It operates within the same system that delivers workshops, classes, consultations, certifications, camps, and educator resources.

For more than a century, UGA Extension has provided research and education through a network of specialists, agents, and volunteers to help Georgians learn, grow and do more. Its mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families. UGA Extension is a collaborative effort between Georgia county governments, the USDA, and the University of Georgia's colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences and Family & Consumer Sciences.
UGA Extension agents, staff, and trained volunteers keep local communities informed through county Extension offices. Across Georgia, UGA Extension has 331 agents in 159 counties, assisted by 10,009 trained volunteers. In fiscal year 2023, UGA Extension made 1,808,305 face-to-face contacts with Georgians and delivered 26,917 programs. It produced 1,337 research-based publications, whose webpages received 2,361,297 visits and 195,575 downloads, and CAES Newswire received 487,584 visits.
Within 4-H Youth Development, UGA Extension has 129 agents. 4-H Youth Development made 1,183,125 face-to-face contacts, worked with 173,505 4-H’ers, and delivered 19,245 programs. There were 92,733 visitors to 4-H centers, and 4-H Youth Development has 6,255 teen and adult volunteers.
