Since 1858, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta has been serving the changing needs of the community. The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is described as the oldest non-profit in Atlanta and as an association of individuals of all ages and from many backgrounds joined by a shared focus on strengthening community. The mission of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta states that, reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, it is an association of volunteers, members, and staff, open to and serving all, with programs and services that build spirit, mind, and body. Financial assistance is available based on need, and the YMCA actively seeks to identify and involve those in need. The YMCA reports creating more than 2.5 million experiences through its programs each year, with 147,049 facility and program members and 25,611 youth served in early learning, afterschool, youth sports, and camps. The YMCA notes that volunteer opportunities are available and that it relies on partnerships with corporate, government, and community organizations. Community outreach efforts include hunger relief, safety around water classes, and chronic disease support. The Y (Connect) Podcast features authentic conversations and personal stories connected to the YMCA.
