Druid Hills Child Development Center offers daily outdoor play, hands-on exploration, and learning through doing. Children play on slides, tricycles, and jungle gyms, and the program includes reading through a Scholastic Book Fair.

The Druid Hills Child Development Center has been serving children and families in the midtown Atlanta community for nearly 50 years and started in 1969. The center offers high quality early education programs from infants to pre-K for a diverse student body of approximately 125 students in 11 classrooms from birth to age 8. The program includes a Child Nutrition Program with breakfast, lunch, and snack prepared fresh daily, and the school year includes holidays, family events, and staff development days. It is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is a recipient of the highest rating (three stars) through Georgia’s Quality Rated child care program. DHCDC has a history of community focus and serves children and families in the midtown Atlanta community.
The center has a fully renovated playground with top of the line resurfacing, hills to run and play on, and a tricycle track, and children have daily outdoor playtime underneath a canopy of trees. Playground renovation Phase 1 includes resurfacing, hills, and a tricycle track, and there are plans to expand into more of the current building to meet future community needs. The program has 40 full-time primary teachers plus support staff. The mission of Druid Hills Child Development Center states that every day the talented, committed educators support the development of children socially, emotionally, and cognitively, encourage students’ curiosity, and help children realize their full potential with an environment that inspires natural curiosity and learning through doing, and that staff partners with and supports families to create a strong foundation for each child’s future success.
Druid Hills Child Development Center is now enrolling young toddlers (1 year olds) and preschoolers. Tours are offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 or 10:30 with no appointment necessary. An upcoming Leadership and Training Institute will focus on developing early educators through professional development at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.
