Since 1858, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta has been serving the ever-changing needs of the community. The organization’s mission states that, reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta is an association of volunteers, members, and staff, open to and serving all, with programs and services which build spirit, mind, and body. The mission also states that financial assistance is available based on need and that the YMCA actively seeks to identify and involve those in need. The YMCA offers programs that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and it conducts community outreach programs such as hunger relief, safety around water classes, and chronic disease support, relying on partnerships with corporate, government, and community organizations. The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is the oldest non-profit in Atlanta, offers more than 3,000 classes per week, and reports creating more than 2.5 million experiences through its programs each year, with 147,049 facility and program members and 25,611 youth served in early learning, afterschool, youth sports, and camps.
