LDS Summer Dance Camp takes place at Lisa’s Dance Spot studio and is led by founder and owner Lisa Pillow, who has over 30 years of experience in dance and cheer. The camp is staffed by 16 experienced instructors, and Lisa’s background includes membership in the Terpsichorean’s Dance Troupe at Hampton University, touring and performing throughout the East Coast, training under Judith Jamison, serving as captain of the Hampton University Marching Force Band dance team Ebony Fire for two years, and dancing as an Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader for two seasons. Lisa has also directed several youth cheer programs, implemented after-school dance and cheer programs, and choreographed performance and competition pieces for middle and high school dance and cheer teams.

Lisa’s Dance Spot opened in April 2007 and has been in business for over 19 years, with over 50 years of dance experience represented and over 30 years of experience for Lisa. The studio’s stated mission is “Building Character and Self Esteem Through the Art of Dance” and emphasizes individual attention, different experience levels working together, and developing future dance leaders and choreographers. LDS is a multi-national and 2025 World Champion award-winning dance studio with 16 Nationals Championship Titles and multi-national award-winning and 2025 World Dance Champion competition dance teams.

LDS Summer Dance Camp includes lunch, and the studio notes that safety procedures are in place so staff and students are safe and enjoy their experience. The camp is described as more than just dance, including arts and crafts and chances for campers to make new friends, and it features both the End of Camp Etiquette Tea Party and the End of Camp Performance as special events. Lisa’s Dance Spot also offers a New Student Intro Program, adult Tap classes, and studio rentals on Sundays.

Parents have shared that they have seen growth in their children’s cognitive and physical skills, confidence, and leadership during their time at Lisa’s Dance Spot, and several note long-term involvement ranging from four to ten years. Testimonials from parents such as Dawn Mann, Armena Hodari, Anitra Lowe, Danata McDowell, and Ammie Underwood describe their children’s experiences with LDS classes, performance and competition teams, and the studio community. The studio’s history also includes implementing after-school dance and cheer programs and receiving support from parents, staff, the community, and family to restart after a natural disaster flood.
