The camp is led by Rob King, Head Women’s Soccer Coach, who joined Oglethorpe’s athletics staff in January 2022. His background includes serving as head women’s and men’s soccer coach at the University of Montevallo from 1995 to 2001, and as head women’s soccer coach at Kennesaw State University from 2001 to 2015, where he was later promoted to assistant athletic director in 2004. At Kennesaw State, he led the team to the NCAA Division II national championship in the program’s second season with a 25-1 record, winning the national coach of the year award that season, and the program won its last nine games without conceding a goal. His teams at Kennesaw State won multiple Peach Belt Conference and Atlantic Sun Conference titles and participated in a pair of NCAA Division I national tournaments, and he mentored several all-Americans for both academics and athletics while developing multiple Division I and II head coaches. At Young Harris College, he established the women’s soccer program into a conference and national contender within the Peach Belt Conference, led the team to its first Peach Belt Conference tournament semifinal appearance, and the team won the athletic department’s Adidas Promo Award for highest team grade-point average. He also led the design and build of the $25 million Fifth Third Bank Stadium by bringing together community, corporate, and nonprofit funding partners, and wrote the bid to bring the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s College Cup to Kennesaw, guiding each component of the project for two years.

The program’s mission statement is “Improve your game and have serious fun at Nike Soccer Camps.” The camp offers a low 10:1 camper to coach ratio, a blend of traditional and modern coaching methods, and daily sessions that focus on technical development and tactical understanding in a structured and supportive environment. Campers receive a Camper Player Card and a Nike Soccer Camp T-shirt, and team discounts are available for groups of four or more. Overnight and commuter options are offered, including extended day and full day choices.

Parent feedback mentions sons’ interaction with the coaches and drills to enhance their skill set, and several comments note meeting new people and making new friends as favorite parts of the camp. Testimonials describe campers enjoying training three times a day in an academy-like experience, being around college athletes and receiving feedback from them, and liking the independence of dorm living and the school environment. Parents report that their children were happy and improved on their skills, enjoyed learning new skills and becoming stronger at their game, and appreciated being with a great group and seeing all skill levels. One parent stated that Rob King is the greatest coach they have known and that having their child coached by him was priceless. Other comments describe the camp as well structured with meaningful and well-planned drills, and note that some campers wanted to sign up for an additional week after returning home.
