The mission is to bridge traditional U.S. citizens, newly arrived residents, and foreign-born individuals through programs and resources that celebrate cultural diversity while strengthening community bonds. The organization serves over 60,000 people each year and is a central meeting place for both long-term residents and newcomers, offering arts and cultural events, educational resources, health and wellness programs, seniors programs, jobs programs, and recreation opportunities. It collaborates with Georgia State University and the Clarkston Community for the Care & Connection program and uses art, dance, music, and culture to connect, support, and learn, transforming art into a bridge between cultures that fosters creativity, dialogue, and mental wellness.
The leadership team includes Executive Director Luay Sami; Development Director Marjan Nadir; Office Manager Natalie Hall-Muhammad; Facilities Manager Sayed Mohammad Musa; Arts and Culture Program Manager Devin Young; Youth Coordinator Faria Salat; ESL Teacher Deon Hauser; Maintenance Coordinator Donnie Roseberry; and Event Rental Coordinator Veonia R. Campbell. The Board of Directors includes Chair Dr. Henry (Chip) Carey, Vice-Chair Lesley Dixon, Treasurer Shirley Zambrano, Secretary Dr. Ashli Owen-Smith, and members Alma Nieto and Farah Dharamshi. Staff experience includes work with the Ministry of Culture in Baghdad, World Vision Somalia, ATC (Afghan Technical Consultant), UNWFP (United Nations World Food Program), the City of Atlanta, CNN, and teaching in Thailand, South Korea, and South America, as well as backgrounds in accounting, IT, procurement and supply chain, construction, employment services, education, insurance, and foster care. Language skills among staff include Dari, Pashto, Hindi, Persian, Urdu, Swahili, and conversational Somali.
Parent and community reviews describe the center as a great place for rentals that works to support the community in many ways, with staff who are kind, helpful, and provide great customer service. Reviewers note that the space is charming and well maintained, and that large events, including student, educator, and holiday events with around 200 guests, have been held there and were enjoyed by attendees.
