About
Springer Theatre Academy takes place within the Springer Theatre, which includes spaces such as Emily Woodruff Hall (mainstage), the Dorothy McClure Theatre (The Dot), the McClure Theatre lobby bar, Woodruff Hall MainStage, The Emporium gift shop, and the Springer Saloon. The program follows the Springer Theatre mission of “Life Skills Through Stage Skills.”
Springer Theatre, where the academy is based, is recognized as the State Theatre of Georgia and operates as a professional regional theatre company. It is now entering its 154th season and stages 10–15 productions each year in three different series, with 112,000 annual admissions. The theatre is located in a painstakingly preserved National Historic Landmark and offers a free Uptown Shuttle on-demand transportation service via a five-passenger solar panel golf cart. Snacks and drinks in cups with lids are allowed in both theatres, while outside food and drinks are not permitted, and guests are advised to bring a light sweater or wrap in case the temperature inside the theatre feels cool. No video, audio, or photo recording is allowed during performances, assistive listening devices for shows in Woodruff Hall are available upon request from the box office, and elevator access is available for guests with mobility needs.
