Madison County Recreation Department Youth Sports & Programs offers a wide range of activities, including Baseball, Softball, Tee Ball, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, and a Cross Country Meet. The program also includes special events such as a Daddy Daughter Dance, Spring Festival & Egg Hunt, Nerf Night, Toss for Tots Cornhole Tournament, Raiders of the Lost Ace Disc Golf Tournament, Christmas in July, Halloween in the Park, Night Under the Stars, the Christmas in Comer Reindeer Run, Brunch with the Grinch & Holiday Market, Rotary Splash Island, Summer Day Camp, Friday Night Flights, Scoreboard Advertising, Banner Signs, and Season Opening Days.

For many years, the Madison County Recreation Department has offered the community recreational activities, sports programs, special events, and more. The department’s mission is to provide fun, safe and affordable recreational opportunities at various recreational facilities to enhance the quality of life and promote healthy lifestyles for all participants and citizens of Madison County. The department has brought both the department and the community statewide acclaim.
The leadership team includes Director Shelley McDaniel; Assistant Director Holley Haynes; Administrative Assistants Carolyn Waldroup and Angela Rouse; Athletic Coordinators Cameron Hollins, Colton Steele, and Trevor Rakosnik; Night-Shift Supervisors Abigail Ledford and Brooke Tanner; Program Assistant Zemory Boone; Fields & Grounds Operations Manager Andrew Lee; Grounds Laborer I staff Shane Laflam, Steven Moss, and James Westmoreland; and Grounds Laborer II Jessie Williamson.
Madison County Recreation Department has a NO PET Policy that allows only ADA Service Animals on park property, and a NO SMOKING policy that prohibits all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, tobacco look-a-likes, and vapes on park property. If visitors park in a FIRE ZONE or TOW ZONE, they will be towed. A walking trail at Diamond Hill Softball Complex has been identified as a priority improvement in the Madison County Comprehensive Plan for Leisure Services.
The department invites companies to become sponsors in 2025 through Athletic Sponsorships, Event Sponsorships, and General Sponsorships, and sponsorships are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis, with returning sponsors given the first opportunity to retain their sponsorship of specific programs. Sponsors may request one child be on their sponsored team, and Madison County Recreation Department attempts to grant these requests based on circumstances. The department accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover for sponsorship payments. Madison County Recreation Department provides recreational opportunities for many in-need youth each year at little cost to the parent or guardian and requests donations to the MCRD Scholarship fund, and Friends of Recreation and Parks donors can have their name appear on www.madcorec.com as a donor if they wish. The department thanks sponsors in advance for their support and notes that without business community support the county would not be able to provide the quality parks and recreational services citizens enjoy today.
