About
Dawson County Parks & Recreation Programs are offered through the Dawson County Parks & Recreation Department. The department provides indoor facilities such as meeting rooms and basketball courts, as well as outdoor facilities including playgrounds, a swimming pool, a splash pad, ball fields, and tennis courts. Dawson County Parks & Recreation manages four parks and enforces a Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Friday 8 am–5 pm; recreation center hours Monday–Saturday 8 am–9 pm and Sunday 1 pm–9 pm; park hours Monday–Sunday 7 am–10 pm
Dawson County Parks & Recreation’s primary mission is to create a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for which people of all ages can grow, benefit, and enjoy the quality of life through diverse recreational and leisure opportunities. The department developed an information guide that is split into two separate activity guides: Winter/Spring and Summer/Fall. The Winter/Spring Guide becomes available in January and covers activities and events scheduled from January through May, and the Summer/Fall Guide becomes available in May and covers activities and events scheduled from May through December. Additional printed copies of the activity guide are available at the main office at Rock Creek Park while supplies last, and the activity guide is also distributed through the Dawson County Schools District. The department is led by Director Matt Payne. The Government Finance Officers Association has recognized Dawson County, Georgia with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget.
