Decatur Makers Youth Programs

Decatur Makers Youth Programs includes Family Build Night, Young Makers Club, Girls Maker Club, Middle School Build Club, Youth Open Build Night, The Crafting Table, and Robotics. Family Build Night provides project materials and support from makerspace volunteers, Young Makers Club offers hands-on projects in science, tech, engineering, and art, Girls Maker Club is open to girls aged 9+, Middle School Build Club is open to middle school aged kids, The Crafting Table has students design and build their own projects, and Robotics includes coding, building, and teamwork over a semester.

Programs

• Family Build Night — ages 3+ and their families · Last Wednesdays 5-6:30pm · Monthly event for littlest makers; young makers are provided with all project materials and support of makerspace volunteers.
• Young Makers Club — elementary schoolers · Fourth Fridays 5-6pm · Creative space to explore science, tech, engineering, and art through hands-on projects.
• Girls Maker Club — girls aged 9+ · Second Sundays 1-3pm · Open to any and all girls aged 9+ in Atlanta.
• Middle School Build Club — middle school aged kids · Third Tuesdays 5-7pm · Open to any and all middle school aged kids.
• Youth Open Build Night — Select Thursdays 4-6pm · Come to the space and get started on a unique project just for you.
• The Crafting Table — high schoolers · Tuesdays 4-6pm · Students learn to design and build their own projects.
• Robotics — students · Sundays 3-4pm; Mondays 4-6pm · Participants learn coding, building, and teamwork over the course of a semester.

About the provider

Decatur Makers has operated since 2012. Its youth outreach supports youth and teachers across Atlanta with hands-on experiences, and its partnerships include the Decatur Housing Authority (DHA), International Rescue Committee (IRC), and Washington Street Community Center in Covington. The program also participates in National Night Out, the Decatur Book Festival, and the Atlanta Science Festival. Its mission is to inspire creativity, encourage critical thinking, and foster personal growth.

Welcoming, inclusive, all ages. Kids 11+ years old can become members under a Student Membership and kids of all ages can visit as guests. Membership fees are kept low and needs-based scholarships are offered. Free community youth maker-led clubs are offered. Some programs are free and some are paid.
