First Camp offers activities such as arts and crafts, group games, and an optional movie, along with plenty of movement throughout the day. The program includes themed experiences like Aqua World, Animal Kingdom, Young Artists, Science Discovery, Sports, Fairy Tales, Young Chef, Magic Tree House, and Adventure Camp. Field trips are also part of the camp schedule.

• Schedule: After-school options Monday–Friday 1:30pm–6:00pm, and full-day camp options Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:30pm with 3-day or 5-day enrollment choices
For over thirty years, First Camp has furnished care for elementary-aged children in the Decatur area. The stated goal of First Camp is to provide students with a safe, nurturing environment in which they can learn and grow, meeting each child wherever they are developmentally and supporting growth cognitively, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. First Camp is a Licensed After-School Program, and First School is licensed by the State of Georgia “Bright from the Start” program.
First Camp Counselors are hired based on the number of children enrolled at each program site, and counselors receive ongoing professional development in the afterschool field. All staff members complete intensive training that covers behavior management, working with different age groups, specific activity training, prevention of child abuse, first aid/CPR, supervision, and additional topics. The program operates with the state child-to-staff ratio, and age groups and activities are separated to support the safety of all campers.
First Camp offers full-day School Break Camps during the Decatur City break weeks and full-day Summer Camps with field trips during the summer months, and after-school enrollment is not required to attend all-day camps. The program provides multiple play and activity areas, including a baseball field, a large playground, an inside gym, a large games room, a craft room, a kitchen area, and several classrooms. Part-time enrollment is available with options for 3 or 5 days per week, and the program includes a Notice of Nondiscriminatory Policy as to Students.
First Camp is a ministry of First Baptist Church Decatur and states that it embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion with intentional actions to dismantle systemic racism and bias. The organization commits to proactively listen, learn, and act to promote equitable outcomes and to cultivate a culture where everyone feels valued and welcomed.
