His coaching background includes starting coaching the lower level boys team at Gemini School of Gymnastics at age 16, starting a boys program at NW YMCA in Tampa, and coaching at Ron Galimore Athletic Training Center as assistant team coach from 1989 to 1994, where he also worked with developmental groups and recreational classes. He was hired at Gym South in 1994 to run the Men’s Program.
According to the stated mission, the focus for young gymnasts is on strong foundations in basics, air sense, and strength, and on giving back to other kids what he received through gymnastics. The mission also states an aim to use gymnastics as a vehicle to help kids grow up to be young men, to work with kids who want to learn, and for gymnasts to walk away with more than strength, flexibility, and skills, including lessons about life.
