• Ages: 1–18 years old
• Schedule: Public visitation hours Wednesday–Friday 12pm–3pm and Saturday 10am–4pm; Sci-Art Saturdays meet in a 2.5-hour class
Elachee Nature Science Center offers nature-based programs for toddlers, homeschoolers, and adults, including Sprouts monthly nature play sessions for toddlers ages 18 months to 4 years, Young Explorers Club, Women of the Woods, Wild Wisdom, and Sci-Art Saturdays natural science illustration classes. Camp Elachee provides weeklong summer day camps for Kindergarten through middle school, and Homeschool Programs offer monthly science-based field classes for K–12 homeschool families aligned with Georgia standards and rooted in hands-on outdoor learning. Elachee Nature Academy is a full-time, Cognia-accredited school for preschool through early elementary with inquiry-led, nature-based learning five days a week. Staff are trained to create environments where children can explore, experiment, and learn while maintaining clear safety protocols and boundaries.
Elachee Nature Science Center has been nurturing curiosity, conservation, and connection for more than 45 years and promotes environmental understanding through education and conservation. Its hiking trails are part of one of Georgia’s largest protected urban forests, with over 12 miles of scenic, pedestrian-only hiking trails that function as outdoor classrooms with interpretive signage and habitat diversity. Indoor and outdoor exhibits include live native animals and pollinator exhibits, and downloadable checklists and maps are available for Birds of Chicopee Woods, Plants of Chicopee Woods, and a Plant Community Map.
Leashed dogs are allowed on hiking trails on Sundays, and the Chicopee Woods Conservation Area prohibits pets, smoking, vaping, tobacco use, bicycles, eBikes, motorized vehicles, horses, hunting or fishing (including Chicopee Lake), and removing plants, animals, rocks, or natural materials. Elachee is not licensed for wildlife rehabilitation. The membership community supports hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, and connections to nature all year long, and members receive free general admission and early access to Camp Elachee. Community involvement includes corporate partnerships, sponsors, volunteers, corporate retreats and events, and event and program sponsorships.
