About

Camp Hamby Day Camp includes Bible Exploration, nature time, arts and crafts, music, recreation, and discovery activities. Campers build boats or rafts from materials in nature and race them in the creek, and on Friday they use an inflatable water slide during recreation time. At the end of the week, families attend a program where campers share what they learned and sing a few traditional songs.

• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: 2026 dates are June 8–12 and June 15–19

In 1968, Mr. Hugh Hamby of Menlo United Methodist Church donated land to be used as a Christian camp for young people, and the day camp has grown from serving 38 children in 1981 to around 300 children. Camp Hamby Day Camp states that campers enjoy a fun-filled day participating in numerous activities while learning about the love of Jesus. The camp is directed by Liz Wells, great granddaughter of the late Hugh Hamby, with assistant director Amy Housch, and both have been involved with Camp Hamby for the past 30 years as campers, counselors, and staff members. The staff is made up of teen counselors and adult volunteers, most of whom have been involved with the camp since they were campers. Through the efforts of numerous dedicated volunteers, a ministry developed that has touched the lives of many children and adults, and Camp Hamby is open to all denominations. Spots cannot be secured until both the form and payment have been turned in.
