Championship Martial Arts Griffin offers a Basic/Foundations Program where students learn core martial arts blocks, strikes, bully defense, and character development. Students who demonstrate sufficient aptitude and attitude may be invited into the Leadership Program. The Black Belt Club Program continues the Basic/Foundations program, and the Master’s Program is available for those who wish to continue past 1st degree and focus on the Black Belt Lifestyle.
The Griffin studio includes a 14 ft. x 7 ft. trampoline, a 30 ft. x 5 ft. tumble tramp that transitions to a 20 ft. x 12 ft. foam pit, and a gymnastics spring floor. It is described as one of the few martial arts training areas with this combination of equipment, and this facility is described as allowing training in a safer environment than has been available in the Atlanta area and allowing the martial artist to learn more quickly.
Each program is developed from what the organization describes as the top curriculum in the country and is led by certified, professional instructors. Instructors receive ongoing training in teaching skills and martial arts techniques, and the schools describe their staff as ready in teaching skills and martial arts techniques. Championship Martial Arts (CMA), with six studios in Georgia, trains over 1,200 students and is described as the largest martial arts program in Georgia south of Atlanta.
The stated mission of Championship Martial Arts Griffin is to encourage and motivate students and to provide skills needed to help them succeed in life. The program states that it improves students’ confidence, discipline, self-esteem, focus, and physical well-being, and that it aims to make a positive impact on communities and reinforce solid character development in students of all ages by leading by example. The same mission statement describes a constant effort to maintain this commitment.
Parent and student testimonials describe children enjoying karate, tumbling, cheer, and martial arts, and mention discipline, manners, self-esteem, self-defense, balance, flexibility, strength, courtesy, respect, modesty, self-discipline, confidence, physical agility, and perseverance. Testimonials also describe instructors as friendly, knowledgeable, devoted to students’ excellence, taking personal interest in every student, and partnering with parents. One testimonial from a law enforcement officer credits self-defense skills learned at CMA with saving his life on the job.
