About

The Georgia Divisional Music & Arts Conservatory Program focuses on music and arts within the Georgia Division of The Salvation Army. The Conservatory Program has been split into a 5-day Junior Conservatory and a four-week Senior Conservatory. The Music & Arts Department can provide music, dramas, dances, ideas, leadership training and resources for worship and events, and it is responsible for all Divisional Music & Arts Groups (DARTS), which bring active corps soldiers and members together to further develop their talents.

• Schedule: The Conservatory Program started in the Georgia Division in 1986 as a seven-week summer music school and is now structured as a 5-day Junior Conservatory and a four-week Senior Conservatory.

The Conservatory Program started in the Georgia Division in 1986. The Conservatory Program is described as a benefit to all aspects of music and arts in the Georgia Division, from teaching beginners to enhancing already educated musicians and artists and offering opportunities for everyone to grow both spiritually and musically. The mission of the program is to know Christ as savior, friend, and guide, to show Christ in music, art, and relationships, and to equip participants and others to share Christ with confidence, love, and passion. The leadership team includes Daniel Meeks, Divisional Music Director for The Salvation Army in the State of Georgia, and Skyela “Skye” Bussey, Assistant Divisional Music & Arts Director specializing in theater. Daniel Meeks has served as Divisional Music Director since 2001 and holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and Skyela “Skye” Bussey graduated college in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Studies. The Music & Arts Department states that it is happy to be a resource as worship and events are planned and prepared in local corps.
