About
Macon Little Theatre presents live theatre that includes theatre for young audiences, big Broadway musicals, classic plays, and other musicals. The production “Alice by Heart,” presented by Macon Little Theatre August 21–30, 2026, is one example of the shows offered.

Macon Little Theatre opened its doors to the public on March 14, 1934, and construction began on its Forsyth Road facility in 1961 for its 29th season. It is described as the oldest, continuously running community theatre under the same name in the southeast and the longest running community theatre in the entire Southeast, with archives that share memories of past productions and over nine decades of theatre history. The theatre features auditorium seating for 350 people, dressing rooms, a lobby, and an orchestra pit, and it was designed so that no seat was to be further than 60 feet from the stage. Macon Little Theatre features many talented actors and artists from all over central Georgia.
The Artistic Director, JP Haynie, has an MFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Central Florida and a BA in Theatre from Mercer University. The leadership team includes Artistic Director JP Haynie and a Board of Directors made up of Sheree Keith (Chairman), Laura Dixon, Carla Gilmer, Summer Sterling Grisamore, Sylvia Haynie, Liz Hill, John P. Land, Kelley Land, Ron Marshall, Katie Miller, Frani Rollins, and Emily Stepp.
Macon Little Theatre is a member of the League of Historic American Theatres (LHAT) and the American Association of Community Theatres (AACT). Membership in LHAT connects Macon Little Theatre to a network focused on safeguarding historic theatres, and affiliation with AACT reflects its involvement in community engagement, artistic excellence, and the nurturing of local talent. Macon Little Theatre thanks its media sponsors at 100.9 The Creek, an independently owned and operated radio station under Creek Media that serves Macon, Warner Robins, Perry, Gray, and Forsyth and reaches a global audience through online content and streaming.
