About

Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center Summer Camps include activities such as archery, wildlife identification, fishing, canoeing, snorkeling in a mountain creek, caving for endemic salamanders and bats, and visiting a fish hatchery. Campers take part in team challenges, outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, play, crafts, live animal encounters, games, and a fishing tournament. Some sessions also include shooting activities, learning the basic rules of gun safety, proper handling of rifles, shotguns, and archery equipment, and safely cleaning, maintaining, and storing firearms, as well as learning about Georgia’s game animals, basic wildlife biology and behavior, hunter safety practices, hunting methods, firearms handling, and game processing and preparation for the table.

• Ages: 6–16 years old
• Schedule: Day and overnight camps run June–July, with day camps Monday to Friday from 9 am–4 pm and most overnight camps running Monday to Friday with Monday 10:30 am drop off and Friday 11:00 am pickup; one Shooting Sports session runs Monday, June 29–Thursday, July 2, 2026, ending at 3:00 pm.
• Price: $175–$350 per camp, with Nature Heroes and Where the Wild Things Are at $175, Gone Fishin’ and Outdoor Team Challenge at $350, Shooting Sports at $315, Out Huntin’ Camp at $350, and Adventures in Conservation Education (ACE) at $200 per person.

All overnight camps include a bed in onsite lodge-style rooms and meals in the Dining Hall. Participants in overnight camps spend five days learning about Georgia wildlife through hands-on activities and day trips in the north Georgia Mountains, exploring the Blue Ridge and Cumberland Plateau ecoregions.

Nature Heroes camp uses Marvel and DC comic book personas to help campers develop skills and knowledge to protect Georgia’s wildlife and become “CEWC Earth Warriors” and earn special hero gear. Where the Wild Things Are camp includes outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, play, crafts, live animal encounters, and games. Gone Fishin’ camp includes learning about fishing regulations, knot tying, casting, making lures, fish habitats, biology, conservation, activities with special guests, a field trip, and a fishing tournament. Outdoor Team Challenge includes team challenges and high-energy activities like canoeing, archery, and fishing, with campers competing to earn points for their team.

Shooting Sports Camp focuses on becoming a safe and responsible shooter, emphasizing gun safety, proper handling of rifles, shotguns, and archery equipment, and firearm cleaning, maintenance, and storage. Out Huntin’ Camp includes learning about Georgia’s game animals, wildlife biology and behavior, hunter safety practices, hunting methods, firearms handling, and game processing and preparation for the table, and by week’s end participants earn Georgia’s Hunter Safety Certification with successful completion of the required exam. Adventures in Conservation Education (ACE) is a camp for middle school students focusing on wildlife conservation and includes snorkeling in a mountain creek, discussing black bear research, visiting a fish hatchery, and caving for endemic salamanders and bats, with day trips in the north Georgia Mountains and exploration of the Blue Ridge and Cumberland Plateau ecoregions.

Thanks to a grant from The Environmental Resources Network, the cost of Adventures in Conservation Education (ACE) camp is $200 per person.
