About
Cobb County 4-H Youth Development Programs offers activities such as Archery, Cooking Club, Young Farmers Club, Cloverbuds, County Council, Horse and Pony Club, Shotgun Club, Project Achievement, Summer Camps, conferences, Consumer Judging, Horse Judging, Hippology, LifeSmarts, a Public Speaking program, and North Georgia State Fair events and activities. Activities such as judging teams, camps, conferences, and more are available for active 4-H’ers in 4th–12th grade. At the 4-H Open House, attendees can learn more about 4-H programming and specialty clubs and enroll in 4-H.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Activities are held after school or on weekends; during the school year, 5th graders may attend 4-H club meetings during school hours in their classroom, and 4-H County Council meetings for grades 4th–12th are held monthly; Cobb County 4-H has a Homeschool Cloverbuds program that meets during the day and a General Cloverbuds program that meets in the evening monthly.
• Price: Some clubs are free while others have a fee to assist with club supplies and programming.
All youth in grades K–12 residing in Cobb County may join 4-H. During the school year, 5th graders may attend meetings at their school where 4-H clubs exist, and 4th graders, 5th graders, and middle school students may attend meetings at their school where 4-H clubs exist. 4-H club meetings are educational and focus on science and public speaking skills. The 4-H Open House will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:30 pm–7:30 pm. County Council 2025–2026 dates are August 14 (Open House), September 2, October 7, November 4, December 2, January 6, February 3, March 3, April 14, and May 5. Cloverbuds 2025–2026 dates are August 14 (Open House), September 11, October 8, November 12, December 10, January 14, February 11, March 3, April 1, and May 13.
The mission of Georgia 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society. 4-H activities are led by Cobb County 4-H staff members and screened UGA volunteers. UGA Extension is a collaborative between Georgia county governments, the USDA, and the University of Georgia's colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences and Family & Consumer Sciences, and as a program of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Cooperative Extension System, 4-H is part of the nationwide Extension network. County Council meetings include community service opportunities.
