About

YMCA of Metro Atlanta Summer Day Camp includes activities such as cooking, basketball, drama, STEAM, arts and crafts, group games, outdoor exploration, indoor learning experiences, archery, canoe rides, sports, art, gymnastics, teen leadership, and swim. The program offers both Specialty and Traditional Camp experiences, including sport and specialty camps. Age-appropriate activities are designed to promote independence and develop the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, and activities are structured to keep children off of screens.

Most YMCA of Metro Atlanta day camps ask campers to bring a lunch, preferably in an insulated lunchbox, along with a refillable water bottle, two snacks without nuts, spray sunscreen, and bug spray, and campers are asked not to bring cell phones, laptops, or any type of electronics. Before camp, each camper must provide a Medical Waiver, an Authorized Camper Pickup Form, and a copy of the child’s shot records on the school health form (3231), and these forms cannot be transferred from other YMCA programs. The YMCA accepts third party payment from other organizations, and many locations accept DFCS (CAPS) payments, and financial assistance is always available for YMCA programs.

Since 1858, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta has been serving the ever-changing needs of the community. Reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta describes itself as an association of volunteers, members, and staff, open to and serving all, with programs and services which build spirit, mind, and body, and it states that financial assistance is available based on need and that it actively seeks to identify and involve those in need. The YMCA of Metro Atlanta also offers community outreach programs such as hunger relief, safety around water classes, and chronic disease support, and it relies on partnerships with corporate, government, and community organizations to increase its collective impact.
