• Price: free education opportunities in STEM subjects

STARBASE Robins is a DoD educational program aimed at increasing STEM education awareness in local schools and uses a positive, proven approach to create excitement and interest in STEM through innovative, hands-on, free education opportunities. It is one of numerous civil-military cooperation initiatives approved by Major General Robert A. McIntosh, United States Air Force, Chief of Air Force Reserve, and was the 18th STARBASE site to begin operations, with its inaugural classes in 1996. The broader STARBASE program began in 1989, with the first program funded by a grant from the Kellogg Foundation, and in 1992 Congress approved Department of Defense funding that was signed into law by President George H. Bush for seven years of support.

Community involvement at STARBASE Robins includes volunteer participation in local schools and LEGO Robotics tournaments. One volunteer from Robins Air Force Base reported that participating in STARBASE Robins provided an opportunity to volunteer in these settings. Additional testimonials describe STARBASE as “the most awesome experience I have ever had the privilege of being part of” and note that STARBASE 2.0 has been a very positive experience for a participating educator.
