The Rockmart Cultural Arts Center includes four working artist studios, a classroom, an art library, a community chorus room, a pottery studio, two art classrooms, an art gallery, a gift shop, and the office of Arts Director Megan Olmstead. Camps are taught by professional educators in their field. The leadership team includes Arts Director Megan Olmstead, Theatre Operations Manager Rex Garner, and Chorus Director Debbie Miller. The Rockmart Theatre is part of the center and is described as one of the best sounding theatres in North Georgia, with performances that include Rockmart Community Chorus, Summer Theatre Camp productions, RMS and RHS Thespians and their productions, local and community group performances, and local and area singers, songwriters, and musicians.
The Rockmart Cultural Arts Center states that its goal is to further opportunities in the appreciation, participation, presentation and performance of the various arts, to promote understanding and education in the arts, and to provide service and support to the community. The center offers six different art exhibits each year, including juried exhibits, solo artist shows, a student art show, themed exhibits, and more, and admission to the gallery is free during regular hours or by appointment. The RCAC Gift Shop carries handmade and local arts and crafts made by members, and RCAC offers a Fine Arts Scholarship each year to a senior who will be majoring in the fine arts.
RCAC has a booth at local festivals with fun art activities for children, and the community often participates in projects sponsored by RCAC such as the 125th Anniversary Mural. To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the city in 1997, the Rockmart Cultural Arts Center and the Georgia Council for the Arts sponsored the historic mural located on Elm Street in downtown Rockmart. Proceeds from performances at The Rockmart Theatre support Rockmart Cultural Arts Center and local artists.
