About

Rockmart Cultural Arts Center Youth Art Classes and Summer Camps offers Youth Art classes during the school year and many Summer Camp programs, including Summer Theatre Camp productions. The program includes art exhibits such as Juried Exhibits, Solo Artist Shows, a Student Art Show, and Themed Exhibits, along with fun art activities for children. Each camp ends with a Youth Art Exhibit or a performance by the students.

• Schedule: Youth Art classes are offered throughout the school year, and summer is dedicated to youth with many Summer Camp programs; gallery hours change during art camps to Monday–Friday 10:00 am–1:00 pm, and regular gallery, gift shop, and office hours are Monday 1:00 pm–7:00 pm, Tuesday 1:00 pm–7:00 pm, Wednesday 1:00 pm–4:00 pm, Thursday 10:00 am–1:00 pm, and Saturday 10:00 am–4:00 pm (closed Sunday and Friday).

Camps are taught by professional educators in their field. The Rockmart Cultural Arts Center has an Arts Director, Megan Olmstead, a Theatre Operations Manager, Rex Garner, and a Chorus Director, Debbie Miller. The Rockmart Theatre is part of the Rockmart Cultural Arts Center, and performances there include Rockmart Community Chorus, Summer Theatre Camp productions, RMS and RHS Thespians productions, and local and community group performances, as well as performances by local and area singers, songwriters, and musicians. The Art Gallery has six different art exhibits each year, and the RCAC Gift Shop carries handmade and local arts and crafts made by members, with free admission to the gallery during regular hours or by appointment.

The Rockmart Cultural Arts Center states that its goal is to further opportunities in the appreciation, participation, presentation, and performance of the various arts, to promote understanding and education in the arts, and to provide service and support to the community. To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the city in 1997, the Rockmart Cultural Arts Center and the Georgia Council for the Arts sponsored the historic mural on Elm Street in downtown Rockmart. The center offers an RCAC Fine Arts Scholarship each year to a senior who will be majoring in the Fine Arts, has a booth at local festivals with fun art activities for children, and involves the community in projects such as the 125th Anniversary Mural. Proceeds from performances in The Rockmart Theatre support Rockmart Cultural Arts Center and local artists.
