Effingham County 4-H Youth Development offers hands-on projects in areas like STEM, agriculture, healthy living, communication, career readiness, and leadership. The program is part of Georgia 4-H, which is a program of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Cooperative Extension System. 4-H provides experiences in classrooms, clubs, or community events.
The mission of Georgia 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society. 4-H is part of the nationwide Extension network, and UGA Extension is a collaborative between Georgia county governments, the USDA, and the University of Georgia's colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences and Family & Consumer Sciences. Morgan Triplett began their Extension journey in 2019 as a 4-H Educator and transitioned into the role of 4-H Agent in 2022. The leadership team includes Morgan Triplett, 4-H Youth County Extension Agent; Lauren Jervis, Effingham County 4-H Program Assistant; Holly Usher, Effingham 4-H Program Assistant; and Melissa Jacobs, Effingham County 4-H Educator. Morgan Triplett holds a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Education in Workforce Education from the University of Georgia. 4-H is the nation's largest youth development program. Programs are designed to build confidence, responsibility, and critical life skills while creating opportunities for fun, friendship, and personal growth.
