The programs also offer the Play & Learn Child Enrichment Program, which features music and movement, literacy, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), and arts and crafts. Play & Learn is available for up to 2 hours per day and up to 8 hours per week.

• Schedule: Branch, Play & Learn, and pool hours are available throughout the week, and Play & Learn sessions are offered in blocks of up to 2 hours per day (8 hours per week).

The Play & Learn Child Enrichment Program is available at all CSRA area branches and is described as the only one of its kind in the region, with a curriculum that changes every week throughout the year and offers the same activities each day at every branch. Play & Learn service is free to all active Y members with a family membership, and when joining, members join as Metro members with access to all Family YMCA locations. The Thomson Family YMCA outdoor pool includes a large pool and dueling slides and is open for the season until September 7, 2026. The Thomson Family YMCA has served the McDuffie County area since 2002, and the Greater Augusta Family YMCA has a 168-year legacy of service in the C.S.R.A. The mission of the organization is to serve individuals and families in the CSRA through programs designed to build healthy spirit, mind and body, reflecting the values of the Judeo-Christian tradition while maintaining respect for all people. The leadership team includes Sharon Crosby, Senior Vice President; Mac McIlhargey, Executive Director, Thomson YMCA; and Tina Woodward, Membership & Youth Program Director. The Family Y’s PrimeTime Afterschool program provides afterschool care at 27 elementary schools and 19 summer camp sites across multiple counties, and the YMCA operates in 8 counties in the region. The organization has provided 2,100 beds through the A Place To Dream Program since 2017 and 4,000,000 meals to children and adults through Cheryl’s Kitchen Food Program.
