The leadership team includes Head Gymnastics Coach Sarah, Program Director and Coach Cynthia, Director Ralphie, EMT and Coach Joe, and Coach Ale. All classes are taught by experienced, qualified, certified, and background-checked professionals for all levels from beginners to advanced and competitive team, and all coaches possess the highest USA Gymnastics (USAG) professional certification. Team coaches are university graduates who have been background checked through USAG and NCSI and have passed rigorous certification tests. The program follows personalized training based on a USAG junior olympic curriculum, and the competitive team uses individualized routines. Head Gymnastics Coach Sarah is a former NCAA collegiate gymnast, a former member of the Junior Olympic Athlete Program with USA Gymnastics, a five-time California State Champion in uneven bars, beam, and floor at compulsory and optional levels, and a professional coach member and member athlete of USA Gymnastics. Program Director and Coach Cynthia practiced compulsory and optional artistic gymnastics for 8 years at Mexico’s Alberca Olympica, danced ballet at Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, holds multiple teaching credentials, and is a professional member of USA Gymnastics. Director Ralphie is a professional member of USA Gymnastics, has over 20 years of teaching experience in physics and chemistry, and has practiced tae kwon do, kendo, iaido, and escrima for over 20 years. EMT and Coach Joe is an Emergency Medical Technician with First Aid/CPR/AED certification, a Certified Personal Trainer, and a recreational instructor member of USA Gymnastics. Coach Ale has specialized training in macrobiotic cooking and is a recreational instructor member of USA Gymnastics.

Manakoa Gymnastics uses a smaller facility model to provide more personal attention and more square footage per class than larger facilities, and all classes are taught by trained and experienced coaches rather than teenagers or unqualified staff. The facility uses top-of-the-line AAI equipment, the brand that supplies Olympic and elite level competitions. The gym is described as clean, open air, and well ventilated, with all equipment, mats, and carpet cleaned and disinfected daily in accordance with CDC guidelines. The program has no initiation fee, no annual membership fee, no insurance fee, and no additional auto-pay setup fees or charges, and it offers open enrollment with registration available online.

Manakoa Gymnastics is the only gymnastics facility in Oahu that was chosen as a program partner with Girl Scouts of Hawaii and is a proud program partner with GS Hawaii. It offers recreational and competitive gymnastics classes to local Honolulu and military families. The program’s mission is to help each of its gymnasts reach their highest potential, no matter their fitness level. Coaches have passed rigorous background checks and gone through the highest level of training from USAG and have the highest level of professional certification to teach its junior olympic curriculum. Program Director and Coach Cynthia received the Golden Apple Award by the City of Los Angeles in 2004, and Director Ralphie was nominated and voted “Most Inspirational Teacher” in 2000 and received a commendation from the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles. The Manakoa Lifestyle book includes vegetarian (many vegan) recipes, exercises, and lessons for the mind, body, and spirit and is available as an e-book. A testimonial from Jennifer Robbins of Hawaii News Now notes that when students do not always stick their landings, they are quickly learning that true warriors get back onto their feet, which is a discipline that can be applied in both the gym and when hitting the books.
