The Pointe School of Dance

The Pointe School of Dance offers My First Dance Class and Mini Movers for ages 1-2, Dance & Discover and Hippity Hop for ages 3-5, and Ballet, Tap, and Jazz for ages 6-10. It also offers Acro, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Pointe for ages 6-18. Youngest dancers take class alongside a caregiver, and students may take an independent dance class beginning at age 2.

At a glance

• Ages: 1–18 years old
• General schedule: Classes begin at age 1 and continue through adult classes. School year classes begin in August and continue through June recital. Summer 5-week session runs from June 15 - July 17. Summer intensives are offered for ages 6+.

About the provider

The Pointe School of Dance says it has served the Cedar Rapids community since 2016 and has offered dance instruction to students of all ages and ability levels. The studio describes its teaching staff as dedicated and certified, and it says its programs are built with intention and a well-rounded curriculum that supports the whole dancer. Company performances in past seasons have included a pre-game performance at a Cedar Rapids Kernels game, performances at Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmer’s Market, nursing home performances, and the Halloween Parade.

Beginners are always welcome. Free trials are available for new students. School year registrations are accepted through January 31 and summer registration opens in February. Registration is confirmed with a $99 annual membership payment (+ $15 for additional dancers in the same family) for school year classes. Dancers enrolled in a package get $12 off additional classes. Dancers ages 6+ may attend intensives; new to The Pointe dancers may schedule a placement class.
