A.C.T. at BCT

A.C.T. at BCT offers Theater Lab, where students create brand new plays from scratch and perform them on a professional stage. It also offers Stage One, where students create short scenes, skits, and micro plays, and the session ends with a performance. Other offerings include Beginning Playwriting, Youth Improv, Teen Improv, Youth Acting One, Teen Acting, and Embodied Performer: A Movement Intensive.

Programs

• Theater Lab — 12-18 years old · Mon/Wed 4:00-6:30 pm · Ten-week class. Students create brand new plays from scratch and perform them on a professional stage. Auditions required; waitlist available.
• Stage One — 7-11 · Tues/Thur 4:30-6:00 pm · $250 · No audition required; limited space available. Each six-week session culminates in a performance.
• Beginning Playwriting — 12-18 · Daily June 8-12, 1:00-3:00 pm · $180 · Turn story ideas into a brand new short play. New ten-minute plays will be read in the last class.
• Youth Improv — 7-11 · Daily June 15-18, 9:00-11:30 am · $180 · One-week class. Covers the basics of theater play, Yes, And, being in the moment, and given circumstances. Showcase on the last day.
• Teen Improv — 12-18 · Daily June 15-18, 12:30-3:00 pm · $180 · One-week class. Covers the basics of theater play, Yes, And, being in the moment, and given circumstances. Showcase on the last day.
• Summer Stage One — 7-11 · Daily June 22-26, 9:00-11:00 am · $180 · Shorter version of the fall/spring class. Creates short scenes, skits, and micro plays, with performance at the end of the week.
• Youth Acting One — 7-11 · Daily July 13-17, 9:30-11:30 am · $180 · Week-long class. Explores pantomime, improvisation, and character development. Showcase on the last day of class.
• Teen Acting — 12-18 · Daily July 13-17, 12:30-2:30 pm · $180 · Week-long class. Covers basic play, yes/and, improvisation, and monologues. Showcase on the last day of class.
• Adult Improv — 18+ · Mondays, August 3-24, 6:30-8:30 pm · $150 · Designed to help participants think on their feet, build confidence, and connect with others through spontaneous performance.
• Explorations of Acting One — 18+ · Sundays, Sep 13-Oct 11, 4:00-6:30 pm · $200 · All abilities class focusing on theater skill games, improvisation techniques, and staying in shape artistically.
• Explorations of Acting Two — 18+ · Sundays, Oct 18-Nov 15, 4:00-6:30 pm · $200 · Explores fundamentals of working with a contemporary script, including text analysis and character development. Some acting experience is helpful.
• Embodied Performer: A Movement Intensive — 18+ · Sundays, April 19-May 24, 12:30-2:30 PM · $180 · Six-week movement class focusing on the Alexander Technique and Laban work to help actors build alignment and make clear physical choices.

About the provider

The program includes scheduled sessions for summer, fall, and spring, with classes ranging from one-week sessions to ten-week classes. Tuition is not eligible for refund within a week of class start time, and cancelled tuition is subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
