Boise Dance Alliance

Boise Dance Alliance offers Mommy & Me for children walking to three years old with an adult partner, Ballet/Tap Combo for ages 3-5, Ballet for ages 5 and up, Jazz for ages 5 and up, Tap for ages 5 and up, Hip-Hop for ages 5 and up, Acro/Tumbling for ages 7 and up, and Contemporary for ages 11 and up. Classes include ballet and tap basics, classical ballet technique, turns and leaps, tap rhythms, hip-hop choreography, acrobatics skills, and contemporary movement.

Programs

• Mommy & Me — walking to three years of age · Designed to be taken with an adult partner; explores beginning levels of movement and music; works on gross motor skills, basic dance terminology, and social skills.
• Ballet/Tap Combo — Ages 3-5 · Beginning level class dedicated to establishing basic knowledge and vocabulary in ballet and tap; students learn the five positions of the arms and feet, basic movement skills, and classroom skills.
• Ballet — Ages 5 and up · Progressive study of classical ballet technique; placement determined by years of past dance training and ability.
• Acro/Tumbling — Ages 7 and up · Focuses on foundational acrobatics and builds strength, flexibility, and control through skills such as walkovers, handstands, handsprings, aerials, stalls, and lifts.
• Jazz — Ages 5 and up · Fast-paced class targeting turns, leaps, flexibility, body isolations, stretching, and strengthening; placement is based on past dance training and ability.
• Contemporary — Ages 11 and up · Expressive style blending ballet, modern, and jazz; focuses on fluidity, control, storytelling, musicality, and personal expression.
• Hip-Hop — Ages 5 and up · Dynamic class with fast-paced progressions and choreography; designed to improve rhythm, coordination, and understanding of beats and musicality.
• Tap — Ages 5 and up · Class for learning fundamental tap techniques; dancers use their feet as percussion instruments to create rhythmic patterns, intricate combinations, and timely beats.

About the provider

Boise Dance Alliance was founded in 2010 by owners Jenn Smart and Ashley Maggard. The program says it is dedicated to training versatile dancers who are strong in terminology, choreography, technique, and artistic expression, and it performs throughout the Treasure Valley.

Registration for workshops and classes is handled through the online Parent Portal. Tuition is paid per semester at the time of registration. Multiple Class Discount Policy: 10% is taken off each additional class when signing up for multiple classes. Pro-rated refunds are given during the first month of each school year semester; tuition is not refunded after that point. During summer camps and summer classes, a 50% refund is given with the remainder going towards a credit.
