About the provider
Camp River Run was created from founder Shawna Van Beek’s dream, and the first week of camp in Cascade was held in July 2008. Its mission is to provide youth who are battling medical conditions an outdoor camp experience they would not otherwise be able to enjoy. The program relies on volunteers, individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors, and it offers volunteer and sponsorship opportunities for summer camp and day camps.
Camp is completely free for campers and their families. Volunteers and staff are CPR and First Aid certified. Individual camper needs are assessed during the application process and one-on-one visits with families to tailor support.
What families say
“Camp is the best thing ever! Just the fact of meeting everybody and then connecting with the kids, it’s the best feeling ever. I couldn’t have asked for a better camp to volunteer with, I love this camp so much!” — Christopher, Counselor Director; Volunteer 2019 - Present
