About
A Child's Place Early Learning Center Summer Camp includes creative arts and design, hands-on STEM activities, dramatic play and storytelling, art projects, science experiments, outdoor play, group games, and special enrichment experiences. Campers take part in in-house field trips, off-site field trips, and on-site experiences as part of the Summer of Imagination curriculum, which features weekly themes that spark imagination and more than 20 weekly themes. All campers receive a t-shirt, and school-age campers receive a kit that includes a t-shirt, backpack, and ID wristband.

The program offers curriculum-based childcare for children from 6 weeks to school-age, with full-time daycare programs only, as well as after-school programs and summer camps for school-age children that blend homework assistance, enriching activities, and recreation. Families typically pack a labeled water bottle, sunscreen, and a change of clothes, and children are asked to wear closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing, and their camp t-shirt on field trip days; school-age families may receive additional reminders for field trip days. Daily digital communication with parents includes photos of children’s activities, updates during meal and nap time, and parent-teacher conferences.
Experienced, caring teachers trained in early childhood education, along with highly trained and nurturing staff and experienced caregivers in the infant program, lead the camp. The Center Director, Kirsten Van Es-Hess, has 36 years in the field and grew up in the area, with strong connections to the local ski hill at Wilmot Mountain, where she has taught young children how to ski for over ten years. The stated mission is to offer fun and loving care each day through curriculum-based childcare for children from 6 weeks to school-age, blending years of experience with a commitment to enhancing age-appropriate learning.
