About

Hot Ground Gym Day Camps gives kids a chance to move through indoor obstacle courses, rope courses, relay races, and “HGG Games,” along with “target practice” activities that focus on hand-eye coordination. Camp days also include teambuilding “missions,” buddy drills with teammates, outside time when weather allows, mind games, and chances to practice basic construction skills and other life skills.

• Ages: 6–14 years old
• Schedule: Camp days run during summer, spring, and winter breaks, as well as some no-school days during the school year; Leadership Summer Camp runs by the week for 8 weeks starting in June, Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm; day camps offer full-day and half-day (AM or PM) options for all camps except the summer camp.

Hot Ground Gym Day Camps take place at a first-of-its-kind gym for kids that combines indoor obstacle courses, teambuilding “missions,” “target practice” for hand-eye coordination, and life skills in the same experience. The program’s camp days follow a structured schedule that includes early drop-off from 7:00–8:00am, morning and afternoon obstacle course and mission blocks, HGG Games & Skills sessions, snack breaks, lunch, and late pick-up from 4:30–5:30pm.

Hot Ground Gym was founded in 2013 by military veterans, former first responders, and teachers who have dedicated their lives to the betterment of children in the communities they serve. The camp is owned by military veterans and former first responders, and its instructors lead interactive experiences and respond to each child’s individual needs. The camp philosophy states that every child has innate potential that can be unleashed through a blend of physical activities, skill development, character-building exercises, and teamwork, and that the program targets physical, mental, and character growth during pivotal childhood development stages. The mission also states that the camp is dedicated to fostering an environment where campers can thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally, with goals that include increased confidence, new skills, a sense of accomplishment, and memorable experiences.

The program highlights that its experience changes every week, that all camps are intended for both younger and older kids ages 6–14, and that the camp program is meant to boost confidence, promote discipline, and encourage social growth. It also states that it teaches skills such as resilience, cooperation, perseverance, and leadership traits, and that many campers have later graduated to become assistant instructors. The organization notes that it is a new way of motivating kids to stay active and develop higher fitness levels, that it focuses on getting kids to work together to solve challenges, and that its Leadership Summer Camp uses a special “small-unit” team environment.

Parent reviews describe Hot Ground Gym as a place where children can grow both physically and mentally, with weekly curriculum that supports strength, confidence, and team building, and note positive experiences with birthday parties and teambuilding events. Parents also report that staff members such as Sam, Joey, and Jeremy connect well with kids, keep them engaged, and help them stretch their limits, and that children often enjoy the activities enough to return regularly after an initial visit.
