Limestone Youth Baseball has been serving the Limestone community for over 65 years and started in 1954. The organization is home based at Limestone Community High School and is led by Bryan Newby, President of Limestone Youth Baseball. The program’s mission is to provide a quality baseball program for the youth of the Bartonville area, offering both a recreational outlet and a fundamental instructional program to develop players to excel for Limestone Community High School when they come of age. According to its mission, participation in the program instills positive values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and community involvement.
The 2026 Limestone Summer Classic offers three games guaranteed, weather permitting, with medals awarded for 1st and 2nd place. Games are played on six baseball fields, including three lighted fields, with flexible scheduling to accommodate team needs. The tournament is described as one of the most well-organized and longest-running tournaments in Central Illinois. The community is also noted as the hometown of major league baseball players Jim Thome, Mike Dunne, Brandon Wikoff, and Seth Schwindenhammer.
A parent testimonial from Tom Garske, a 12U parent, thanks the coaches and volunteers for working on the diamonds during a weekend with poor weather and notes that some volunteers took time off work to make sure the fields were playable so the kids could play during the first two days.
