About
College for Kids offers themed camps that include activities such as MineCrafting World with LEGO Bricks, Robotics 101 with LEGO WeDo Education, Exploring Galaxies Far Far Away LEGO Bricks style, World Science Explores in LEGO Bricks Style, Master Challenge LEGO Style, and Let’s Create an Amusement Park in LEGO Bricks Style. The program also includes Melody Makers Vocal Camp and Craft & Chords, and some camps use LEGO Bricks to build specially-designed Metro East Bricks models, play LEGO games, and explore engineering, architecture and animated movie-making. In Exploring Galaxies Far Far Away LEGO Bricks style, each student takes home a LEGO mini figure.

• Schedule: Four-day camp sessions with morning and afternoon options beginning June 15
Southwestern Illinois College established College for Kids as an educational enrichment program for children in the community in 1946. Courses are described as providing educational, cultural and recreational activities that are different in form and content from regular classroom activities. The College for Kids Summer Camp Program at Southwestern Illinois College is described as covering interests from culinary arts and music to competitive gaming and creative construction, and each camp is described as being designed to foster skills in specific areas as well as teamwork, creativity, and self-confidence. Camps are open to children ages 6–13, and if a child is registered for both the morning and afternoon camp during the same week, lunch and childcare are provided at no cost. Metro East Bricks offers classes through SWIC College for Kids classes, and its camps are built around themes like amusement parks, space and robotics, using LEGO Bricks to build specially-designed models, play LEGO games and explore engineering, architecture and animated movie-making. Melody Makers Vocal Camp and Craft & Chords are led by instructor Tom Dawson. Southwestern Illinois College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
