About
Kankakee River State Park Riding Stables offers guided trail rides, carriage rides, and hand-led horse and pony rides. The program also provides riding lessons for beginners, cowboy themed birthday parties for children and adults, scouting activities with therapy ponies, and fall and winter wonderland activities.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Riding stables open from April until mid-November, with carriage rides available from late fall through winter until late spring (weather permitting)
The program’s stated mission is to provide a comfortable environment where families and friends can enjoy a positive equine experience. It also offers scouting activities so badges can be earned for Horsemanship and/or Community Service working with therapy ponies, as well as volunteer opportunities.
