Acting Out Theatre Company is a nonprofit community theatre company that states that all the world is a stage and that it transforms forgotten, abandoned, or ordinary locations into temporary live theatre spaces. Its work includes environmental summer stock theatre and theatre in unexpected places, with environmental theatre that breaks out of the confines of a traditional proscenium stage. Acting Out Theatre Company was born on December 13, 2010, and produced Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods in the woods at Perry Farm in the summer of 2011. From 2011 to 2019, it worked with Bourbonnais Township Park District to produce the re-enactment portion of A Night in Sleepy Hollow each October. The board members have expertise in areas including business, dance, artistic design, graphic arts, carpentry, music education and performance, accounting, and public relations. The organization reports that it depends on a very supportive community to assist with tasks such as sponsorships, rehearsal space, and a place to build its stage.
