About
Breakaway Kids is an elementary-aged summer program for students coming out of 2nd grade through coming out of 6th grade, with students required to be at least 8 years of age as of August 31, 2026. Camp registration opens February 16 for students who have obtained a valid Church Registration Code, and no student may register online without a valid church code. Payments are not accepted online and must be submitted through the church.
• Ages: 8–12 years old
• Schedule: Breakaway Kids Week 1 runs June 8, 2026 to June 11, 2026. Check-in is from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Day One, with lunch available from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm for $6.00 per person, and the first meal served for Breakaway Camp is dinner on Day One. All Breakaway Programs conclude with a closing service at 10:00 am on the final day.
• Price: Early Bird: $214 (deadline May 1, 2026). Regular: $240 (deadline May 15, 2026). Late: $265. A $100 deposit per student is required. Lunch on Day One is available for $6.00 per person. Discounts are available for Credentialed AG Minister’s Children ($30 per child), Royal Rangers Chartered Members ($10 per child), and Mpact Girls Chartered Members ($10 per child).
Church Coordinators are the primary point of contact for camp communication, registration support, payments, and required forms, and they must submit a $100 per student deposit by May 21 for Breakaway Kids Programs. If a camp week fills, students may be placed on a waitlist and may be moved from waitlisted to registered status based on registration date. KP scholarships allow students to earn a scholarship covering the registration cost of their camp week when their church sends a group leader to serve alongside students during the assigned KP week.
All groups are housed prior to arrival, and cabins must be cleaned prior to departure. If a church is sending more than five children of the same gender, it is required to send a Cabin Leader to accompany that group. All students must complete a lice check prior to camp, and a Lice Check Form must be turned in at check-in; there is a $10 fee per child for lice checks conducted by nurses, and the church is responsible for arranging transportation home for any campers found with lice. Churches must also arrange transportation home for any campers found with lice.
All volunteers must consent to a national background check, and references are required for volunteers. Volunteers apply through a dedicated Volunteer Application process in the Campwise portal, which incorporates reference requests and background checks. The leadership team includes Chris and Christina Stanley as Student Ministries Directors, Lauren Deese as Office and Communication Coordinator, Travis Wilson as Event Coordinator, and Gen Tindall as Data Integration and Graphics Coordinator.
The mission statement for Breakaway Kids is: “In a world all about ‘me’, we are all about ‘we’. Together we can reach the state of Illinois children and youth with the life changing message of Jesus Christ.” PK Retreat is an annual event for the children of Illinois Assemblies of God credentialed ministers in grades 2 through 12.
