About
Breakaway Kids is an elementary-aged summer program for students coming out of 2nd grade through coming out of 6th grade, with students required to be at least 8 years of age as of August 31, 2026. The program runs during Breakaway Kids Week 1 from June 8, 2026, to June 11, 2026, and includes a closing service at 10:00 am on the final day.
• Ages: 8–12 years old
• Schedule: June 8–11, 2026
• Price: Early Bird: $214 (Deadline: May 1, 2026). Regular: $240 (Deadline: May 15, 2026). Late: $265.
Check-in for Breakaway Kids on Day One is from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Activities Center, and the first meal served is dinner on Day One. Families are asked to have participants eat before arriving or bring $6.00 per person for lunch in the Dining Hall, which is open from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. All groups are housed prior to arrival, and cabins must be cleaned before departure.
Church Coordinators serve as the primary point of contact for camp communication, registration support, payments, and required forms. Registration opens February 16 for students who have obtained a valid Church Registration Code, and no student may register online without a valid church code. Payments are not accepted online and must be submitted through the church. There is a $100 deposit required per student for Breakaway Kids programs.
Discounts are available for Credentialed AG Ministers’ children ($30 per child), Royal Rangers Chartered Members ($10 per child), Mpact Girls Chartered Members ($10 per child), and Fine Arts Merit Winners ($25 per recipient, with coupon surrender required). Students may earn a scholarship covering the registration cost of their camp week through KP scholarships, subject to space and participation requirements. If a church is sending more than five children of the same gender, it is required to send a Cabin Leader to accompany that group. All students must complete a lice check prior to camp, and there is a $10 fee per child for lice checks conducted by nurses.
The Breakaway Kids leadership team includes Chris and Christina Stanley as Student Ministries Directors, Lauren Deese as Office and Communication Coordinator, Travis Wilson as Event Coordinator, and Gen Tindall as Data Integration and Graphics Coordinator. The program’s stated mission is: “In a world all about ‘me’, we are all about ‘we’. Together we can reach the state of Illinois children and youth with the life changing message of Jesus Christ.” The program notes that it is here to serve the Illinois Student Ministries family.
