Arabesque Dance Studio has been sharing its passion for dance with students and audiences since 2003. The studio’s stated goal is to offer a quality education in an atmosphere that is positive, supportive, and promotes a genuine sense of self-esteem. Its mission also states that it encourages dancers to take the disciplines of dance into their everyday lives, helping build self-confidence, good self-esteem, and a passion for living.
Arabesque Dance Studio was opened by Miss Kim Coffey in April of 2003, and by September of 2007 it had outgrown its original studio and needed to expand. The leadership team has included Miss Devin Sheldon, who assisted in opening the small, one-room studio and was a former student of Miss Kim, along with front desk managers Gail (Miss Kim’s mom) and Dee (Miss Devin’s mom). The staff includes Mr. Will Heisner, who specializes in ballet, pointe, and acro and has helped advance the ballet program while contributing to the growth of the studio, and he is celebrating 10 years with Arabesque. Miss Gabby Petersen is celebrating 5 years with Arabesque and has helped develop the competitive program into a well recognized, national and world winning team, including choreographing routines that attended the World Dance Championship in New York City. Additional instructors include Miss Susan Barnes, Miss Kamea Rhine, Miss Brandi Aken, ballet instructors Miss Sarah Baer, Miss Bella Redd, and Miss Gillian Corpuz.
Arabesque dancers attended the World Dance Championship in New York City in 2019, with two routines choreographed by Miss Gabby Petersen. Throughout that season, more than 195,000 routines competed in the Star Dance Alliance in the 9–11 age category, and Arabesque came out on top as World Champions. At a subsequent championship, they brought home three top 10 finalists and a lyrical excellence award, and they also received a choreography nomination for Gabby Petersen and Kim Coffey. Arabesque Dance Studio notes a presence in area competitions between local studios since opening in 2003, and its dancers compete and excel in regional, national, and world competitions. The studio describes itself as having had 22 very happy years.
