About

Prairie Du Rocher Saddle Club offers family friendly trail rides and events for members in different locations in Southern Illinois and Eastern Missouri. Activities include rides on private or public property, the Niebruegge River Ride, an Annual Dinner & Dance, a Christmas Dinner, a Cowboy Breakfast, a membership appreciation dinner and dance, and monthly meetings. Horses are not provided, and a current negative Coggins is required for all rides and activities.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm; upcoming events include the Niebruegge/Keller Ride on March 9th at 1pm and the next monthly meeting on March 11th at 7:30pm.
• Price: Guests are welcome for $15 for meal and dinner and $10 for dance only after 8pm; the meal is provided at no cost to members and costs $10 for non-members.

An active membership gives full access to all rides and the Annual Dinner Dance at no cost to members. Guests are welcome with permission from the ride host, and lunch and beverages are available at all rides unless stated otherwise. If a ride is hosted on private property, the host must have permission for multiple riders from all landowners, and landowners who grant permission are invited to an Appreciation Dinner/Dance in January.

Prairie Du Rocher Saddle Club was created in 1962, and the PDR Saddle & Bridle Club was created in 1962 by a group of men whose stated goals were to ride horses and drink beer. In the early years, rides were all held at friends’ houses, beer was sold for 40 cents, soda was sold for 10 cents, and people of all ages would gather at the rides. By the 2000s, membership had climbed to well over 100 members.

The club’s leadership includes President Dave Lehr and Secretary/Treasurer Steph Keller. The club hosts a membership appreciation dinner and dance in January and other various events throughout the year.
