Aloft Circus Arts

Aloft Circus Arts offers kids and teens the chance to take part in aerial basics classes and focused classes such as ABC Silks, ABC Trapeze, Lyra, and Sling. The program also includes kids summer camp, monthly shows, and circus performances that feature aerial arts and aerial dance. Students train in small classes with personalized and intensive instruction, and they spend more time in the air than on the ground as they learn these skills alongside a community of recreational students and professional circus artists.

Aloft Circus Arts describes itself as Chicago's premier teaching, training, and performance space and an aerial dance studio with professional training programs and classes for adults and kids. The program hosts Trans Movement Festival workshops and a Queer Pride Cabaret, along with other monthly shows. Its mission is to encourage a brave space for taking risks and challenging participants and others to be their best selves and to support each person’s circus journey, including LGBTQIA+, Trans, and BIPOC community members and youth. The mission also states a focus on nurturing confidence and strength, both physical and emotional, and on producing circus performances that highlight risk and vulnerability at all levels of participation and enjoyment.
