Hi-Five Sports Chicago is celebrating 25 years of Hi-Five in Chicago and is part of a 30-year-plus history that began with the founding of Hi-Five Sports Camp in Northfield, Illinois, in 1990 and the launch of a second location in Chicago in 2000. Over the years, the organization expanded to year-round sports programming, additional locations in Scottsdale and Menlo Park, the first Hi-Five Sports Zone in San Francisco, a franchise system, and 15 locations in 7 states by 2022. The program is staffed with experienced, trained, and trustworthy coaches who love working with kids.
The mission of Hi-Five Sports Chicago is to provide youth sports programs in the Chicagoland area with a focus on developing skills and having fun, and its philosophy states that while learning and growing, kids should be able to feel good about themselves. Its programs and custom-built facilities focus on building confidence and inspiring personal growth, and its SPORT ZONES are designed specifically for children from preschool to 8th grade, including adjusted field sizes and hoop heights and a mascot named Hi-Five Murphy. The program states that it provides high quality youth sports experiences in a safe, well-equipped, and positive environment, welcomes campers of all abilities, emphasizes inclusive training, games, teamwork, and entertainment, and believes in giving kids a break from technology and social media while they learn the value of hard work, playing as a team, and winning and losing the right ways.
Hi-Five Sports Chicago describes its multi-sport offerings in leagues, camps, and parties as unmatched in bringing the positives of athletics and physical activity to life, including for those who have never experienced them. It describes its eight-week sports extravaganzas as the highlight of kids’ summers and notes that its programs emphasize creating lifelong memories. The organization states it was named the nation’s #1 youth sports entertainment franchise.
Parents have shared detailed feedback about their children’s experiences at Hi-Five Sports Chicago. Christine described her son’s first year at Hi-Five Sports Camp Chicago as amazing and called the operation top notch with great people and activities. Jessica said her expectations as a parent were exceeded each day, and Maya shared that her son attended two summers in a row and performed onstage at the End-of-Summer awards ceremony when he was 5, which she and her husband will never forget. Dana and Michael R. said their child spent eight fun-filled weeks at the camp and that they felt lucky about that experience. Natalie C. said the program was a great source of pride for her daughter and that, compared with other organized sports programs they had tried, none were better, more organized, or more fun than Hi-Five. Jessica L. said her son was surrounded by staff who modeled values they hope to teach at home, treated him lovingly, and were smart, kind, fun, dedicated, and hard working, and she noted that he became more confident and talkative and now wants to work at Hi-Five when he is older. Another parent, Josh R., shared that his son played basketball at Hi-Five from age eight to twelve, developed his competitive edge in the Sunday league, later played in college, and now plays professional baseball, and he credited Gary and Hi-Five with having a lot to do with his development as an athlete.
