Hi-Five Sports Camp was founded in 1990 in Northfield, Illinois, with a second location launched in Chicago in 2000, and year-round sports programming beginning in 2006. The organization expanded to Scottsdale, Arizona, and Menlo Park, California in 2011, opened its first Hi-Five Sports Zone brick and mortar location in San Francisco in 2014, and launched its franchise system in 2015. It marked its 30th anniversary in 2020, had 15 locations in 7 states in 2022, and is celebrating 25 years of Hi-Five in Chicago in summer 2026.

Programs are staffed with experienced, trained, and trustworthy coaches, and all camps and programs are led by experienced professionals who love working with kids. The program’s mission is to provide the finest youth sports programs in the Chicagoland area, with a focus on kids having fun and a philosophy that while learning and growing, kids should be able to feel good about themselves. Hi-Five Sports Chicago has been named the nation’s #1 youth sports entertainment franchise.

Hi-Five Sports Chicago features city-wide summer camp bus transportation, an eight-week sports extravaganza camp format in its general sports camps, and a first-ever 9-week summer in Chicago in 2026 with beloved traditions, brand-new adventures, and anniversary activities. Its Sport Zones are designed specifically for children from preschool to 8th grade, with field sizes and hoop heights tailored for kids, and the program includes inclusive training, games, teamwork, and entertainment, along with a break from technology and social media. The program emphasizes fair play and lists personal growth principles that include teamwork, respect, leadership, sportsmanship, friendship, loyalty, and family, and it also highlights a loveable mascot, Hi-Five Murphy.

According to parent testimonials, families describe the operation as “top notch with great people and activities,” and some parents say their expectations were exceeded each day. Parents report children having “so much fun,” memorable moments such as performing onstage at an end-of-summer awards ceremony, and describe the program as organized and fun compared with other organized sports programs. Testimonials also mention staff who are described as smart, kind, fun, dedicated, and hard working, with one parent noting that their child became more confident and talkative over the summer and another crediting Hi-Five with contributing to their son’s development as an athlete who later played college and professional sports.
