Turning Point Dance Studio offers classes in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, AcroDance, and Contemporary. Students take part in these specific dance styles during their time in the program. • Schedule: Class and studio hours include Monday–Friday 4pm–9pm and Saturday 9am–12pm, with Sunday closed; additional listed hours are 7am–8pm on weekdays and 9am–3pm on weekends.
Turning Point Dance Studio has been providing dance education for over 40 years and was originally established in 1979. The studio has been part of the Elmwood Park community and surrounding neighborhoods for this time. It engages students in performance opportunities and includes elements of dance technique and performance, character development, positive self-awareness, a sense of community, and life and leadership skills as stated in its mission.
The studio was founded by Patricia Toniolo (“Ms. Pat”) in 1979. It is led by Owner, Director, and Teacher Niki Wilk Mahon, with additional teaching staff including Bethany Korzen for Acro, Hip Hop, and Contemporary, and Sarah O’Keeffe for Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz. Niki Wilk Mahon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance & Theatre, has experience as a personal trainer, holds a Master’s Degree in education, and is a state certified teacher in Physical Education and Dance K–12. Sarah O’Keeffe earned a BFA degree in Dance, served as president of the University Dance Company, and received the Lee Family scholarship, the Kick-start award, and the Elizabeth Sherbon Award for Dance.
