Camp Akita offers a range of activities including waterfront activities, a climbing wall, a zip-line, a high-ropes course, mountain bikes, horseback riding, and wagon rides. The program uses a “what to bring” guide to help families with packing for camp.

Camp Akita is a youth camp and Christian retreat center that is home to a summer youth-camp program. The focus of the summer youth-camp program is to give young people an opportunity to experience God’s nature and exciting activities in an environment that is unashamedly Christian. The camp is owned and operated by the Illinois Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and is available for use by members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the community. It is a place for church groups, conference groups, youth teams, and families to come for a retreat, and nearly every weekend people come for fellowship and the camp’s natural setting. Camp Akita was formerly the Fellheimer Scout Reservation. The camp’s leadership includes Tim Pittenger, who serves as Camp Manager/Ranger. Staff applications for summer 2026 are open to individuals who love Jesus and want to share their experience with children, teens, and families as part of the Camp Akita Summer Staff team.
