Dancenter North offers Early Childhood Dance Classes for children ages 2-5, Entry Level classes for beginning students, Placement classes for students ages 7-18 with previous experience, and Professional Track programs for career-minded high school students. It also offers Adult Classes for adults, with registration, punch card, and drop-in options.

Programs

  • Early Childhood Dance Classes — children ages 2-5 · Learning how to move in their bodies. Focus on confidence, having fun, and engaging in a positive learning environment.
  • Entry Level classes — beginning students · Introduce the foundation of dance. No experience needed.
  • Adult Classes — adults · Available for all fitness and experience levels. Registration, punch card, and drop-in options are designed to fit busy schedules.
  • Placement classes — students ages 7-18 with previous experience · Complimentary placement classes before starting on a track for training at Dancenter North. Contact us to schedule an evaluation.
  • Professional Track programs — career-minded High School students · Highest level of training. Acceptance is through application and interview.

  • General schedule: Summer Session 2026 runs June 8 – July 17 (no classes June 29 – July 3). Registration for the 2026/27 school year will be open mid-July. Fall schedule anticipated in the first week of July.

About the provider

Dancenter North was founded by Cheri Lindell in 1974. After 45 historic years in Libertyville, it relocated in 2019 to Gurnee. Its mission states: "Classical Training. Strong Technique. Performance Artistry. Created for Today’s Dancers. Providing a nurturing, body-positive, and healthy environment in which to train properly." The program also has an annual production of "The Magic of the Nutcracker."

New students are always welcome. Complimentary trial classes are available for all curious students. Prior experience students can schedule an evaluation appointment. Professional Track programs are available for career-minded High School students. Acceptance is through application and interview.
