About
Youth Golf Development Center offers youth golf instruction through group lessons, private lessons, and summer camps. Participants practice shots up to 50 yards from fairways, rough areas, and bunkers that replicate the golf course at Sunset Valley, and use synthetic turf hitting stations and hitting bases for longer shots. When not used for youth golf instruction, the Center serves as a practice facility for all Sunset Valley golfers.

Sunset Valley’s Youth Golf Development Center is the primary center for youth golf instruction and skill development in the fundamentals of the short game and is located on an approximately one-acre plot of land adjacent to the new Sunset Valley Golf Club. The Center features fairways, rough areas, and bunkers that replicate the golf course at Sunset Valley, along with synthetic turf hitting stations for longer shots. Sunset Valley Golf Club is home to the Highland Park High School Girls and Boys Golf Teams, and the Highland Park High School Girls and Boys Golf Teams, IJGA tournament players, PGA Junior Leagues, and Sunset Valley players have access to the Youth Golf Development Center when it is not used for instruction. For 100 years, Sunset Valley Golf Club has been a valued part of the Highland Park community. Sunset Valley’s new state-of-the-art Center is described as a welcoming high-quality environment where young people can learn discipline, fairness, and patience by practicing the game of golf. The facility is noted as a type typically only seen at private clubs and learning centers. Sunset Valley has received recognition including the Illinois Park and Recreation Association Outstanding Facility of the Year and the American Society of Golf Course Architects 2018 Design Excellence.
