Timber Pointe Outdoor Center Camps is owned and operated by Easterseals Central Illinois. The program states that it is the premier resource in Illinois for specialized outdoor recreational, experiential, and family programs for individuals with disabilities and illnesses in a fun, safe, and accessible environment. It offers specialized lodging, staff, and programming that are modified to include and empower kids and adults of all abilities, with inclusive and adapted programming to meet the needs of individual campers. The camp uses adaptive equipment and strategies to support all ability levels so campers can participate in every activity offered during a camp session, and camp sessions initially open in waitlist mode so applications can be reviewed to ensure safe, appropriate, and supportive staffing. Timber Pointe continues to monitor COVID-19 Community Levels and employ practices to keep campers, staff, and guests safe while keeping the spirit and magic of camp at the center of programs.

The Timber Pointe Charitable Foundation was established in 1996. The Easterseals Timber Pointe property was originally owned by the Boy Scouts’ Camp Heffernan, and Easterseals began providing camping experiences for children with disabilities in the early 1950s. Easterseals purchased the land from the Boy Scouts in 1989. Staff at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center Camps undergo extensive on-site training prior to the start of camp. Timber Pointe partners with organizations that serve its mission of providing a camp experience for kids and adults who have life-altering illnesses or disabilities, and it is available to the Central Illinois community for overnight rentals, day use for corporate meetings and events, and as a wedding venue. A packing list, information about camp activities, and pick up and drop off information are available in Handbooks found on each program’s tab.
