Uno Volleyball Club offers activities that include Boys Spring Tryouts, Girls Spring Tryouts, and the UNO Co-Ed 4th–6th Grade Short Season. The program also runs events listed as “Tournaments we are hosting,” giving athletes structured volleyball play in an organized club setting.
Uno Volleyball Club was founded in 1984 by Christine Beltzhoover and has been developing local athletes since 1984, with a pause in operations in 1988 and a reopening in 1990, making it the second oldest club in Illinois. Over the years, Director Terri Baranski and dedicated coaching counterparts have put in many hours to grow the club. The club’s stated mission is to teach the fundamental and advanced skills needed to be successful at all levels of volleyball while cultivating sportsmanship, integrity, discipline, and passion for the goals players set. The staff is made up of current high school and college coaches, former NCAA and NAIA national champions, and current college athletes. Uno Volleyball Club notes that its athletes continue to strengthen area school volleyball programs and lead their teams to state titles, and that alumni have competed at top collegiate programs in the nation, including a medal-winning Olympian. The club describes itself as a smaller club with a “small but mighty” mindset, offering a competitive and local place for athletes to train and play year-round, with a focus on the complete development of the whole player and an emphasis on quality over quantity through reduced court congestion.
