Overnight and day sessions are offered, and extended-day campers attend morning, afternoon, and evening training sessions and are provided lunch and dinner before going home after the evening session. Every full-day camper at boys camps receives two 15-minute private sessions, and each camper receives two private, one-on-one lessons, with one lesson for day campers. The program uses a 7:1 player-to-coach ratio, and all players are individually evaluated within a comprehensive individualized teaching progression for beginning, intermediate, and older, less experienced players. Camp sessions include college coaches, high school coaches, and collegiate players, and coaches are hand-picked for their lacrosse expertise, their ability and desire to teach young players, and their ability to responsibly supervise campers. Goalies receive specialized training by a dedicated goalie coach in a “goalie compound.” The Lacrosse Academy originated one-on-one private lessons and is described as the best teaching lacrosse camp, and these camps are in the tradition of camps they have run for over 30 years. The Lacrosse Academy at Lake Forest Academy has been operating since 1987, with Camp Director Mike Caravana and off season contact/administrator Ashlin Caravana. As the camps are planned, learning, fun, and safety are stated as the guiding principles.
